MALGRIM (US) "Saturnalia" - Cassette
GOATOWAREX | CASSETTE
Malgrim's Saturnalia demo is a focused exploration of esoteric black metal, rooted firmly in the traditional aesthetics of the 1990s underground. The release shares a profound spiritual and atmospheric kinship with the early Polish and Norwegian black metal scene, favoring a harsh, austere sound over accessibility. It carefully balances sharp, relentless guitar work and straightforward percussion that evoke a distinctly dark and mystical atmosphere. Eschewing conventional genre tropes to embrace themes of occultism and hidden knowledge, Saturnalia delivers an authentic, stripped-down auditory experience. It stands as a grounded and sincere reflection of the grim, uncompromising spirit found in its historic Eastern European predecessors.
